INDIA CHRISTIAN MISSION CENTER (ICMC):  Arizona Team Visits January 2006

The Real Deal  By Michael Tucker, Pastor and Pastoral Consultant with 21st Century Ministries   www.21stcenturyministries.org

Do you remember the first episode of the TV series WEST WING? Josh Lyman and Sam Seaborn had worked in politics and were discouraged and disappointed. They left that arena and entered the corporate world, making lots of money. They agreed if they ever found “the real deal” they would contact each other. Josh found Sam in a big law firm and told him, “I found it – the real deal.” Sam walked out of an important meeting and left a financially rewarding career to join the campaign of Jeb Bartlett who was running for president.

Friend, I’ve found “the real deal” in the real world.

Dr. Jayaraj Krishnan (Dr. Jay) was an orphan in his native land, India. He became a Christian, worked hard an obtained a seminary degree. He started his own orphanage, and now he cares for 2,000 children. He has expanded his ministry to include The Timothy School which takes people through a one-year basic Christianity training course that trains them to return to their own areas of India and start churches. That school has graduated 1,500 students. He accepts 100 new students each year.

Last month I visited Dr. Jay at his headquarters in Salem, India. India Christian Mission Centre (ICMC) is his organization that includes the orphans, Timothy School, church planting, evangelism, and other educational ministries.

I WHOLE HEARTEDLY ENCOURAGE YOU TO GET INVOLVED WITH THIS EFFECTIVE MINISTRY.

You can sponsor an orphan for $25 per month. You will receive a profile and picture of the orphan you sponsor.

You can give regularly or contribute a one-time gift to The Timothy School (a student is pictured above).

You can get more information through ICMC’s web site (www.icmcindia.org) or send contributions (all gifts are tax-deductible) to their U.S. address:

ICMC USA
P.O. Box 530758
Henderson, NV 89053.

This is “the real deal” and worthy of your support. $25 per month or a $100 donation will go a loooong way in India. I urge you to make an investment in this ministry.

SOME OBSERVATIONS ABOUT INDIA

  1. The needs are overwhelming, but exciting progress is being made. The country is very open to the gospel even though Christians continue to be harassed and persecuted daily. After WW II, General McArthur begged for American missionaries to come to Japan. Few responded. But American businesses flooded that country, and Japan became very prosperous. But the gospel never gained a foundation there.

  2. India is now in the place where Japan was in 1945. Western businesses are flooding India. We don’t need more American missionaries there nearly as much as we need to support the indigenous ministries already in existence in that country. The Hindu government in India says, “There is only one Hindu nation, but there are many Christian nations. Let those nations help Christian ministries here.” Hmmm, they are right.

  3. The Indian government does not help Christian organizations, even when they help orphans or do medical work, but they often block their progress. We need to pray for people like Dr. Jay as they battle bureaucracy every day.

  4. Multiple languages in India complicates everything there. We should be careful about so much emphasis on diversity and multi-culturalism in this country.
