A Conversation With Pastor Jay by Jeanne Zahn

"Did I not tell you?  If you Believe You Will See the Glory of God!"  John 11:40

Anyone who has ever spent time listening to Pastor Jay comes away with a profound respect for Almighty God, a smile from the bigger than life illustrations, and quotes to tuck away for future moments of wisdom.

I wanted to know his thoughts on the state of spiritual affairs across their country.  Pastor Jay spent four days with 4,000 pastors from every state in India at ICMC's All India Pastors Conference.   Here's how our conversation went (as fast as I could type)...from thoughts about Muslims and Allah as Almighty God; to Hindu's likening 'foreign' Christianity to a cell phone and pants; to a new sense of unity he senses between people groups; to a sweet admission of pastors isolated in lonely villages that "our broken hearts have been comforted".  And...guess how many pastors Pastor Jay wants to host next year?

For Prayer and Praise

  1. TIMOTHY ORISSA PASTOR RELEASED:  S. Mahapatra and the fifteen people he is mentoring and planning to bring to Timothy training were released on bail.  God did it.  Mahapatra even came to the All India Pastors Conference.  The fifteen future "Timothy" church planters are forced to remain in Orissa state to sign in with police authorities regularly.  They plan on attending Timothy School next year.

  2. LITTLE GIRL TO HAVE HEART PROCEDURE:  Neva writes, "A girl named Sakunthala, eleven-years old, has been diagnosed with a heart disease called mitarl valve stenosis.  She has been taken to two hospitals and they suggested that she undergo a procedure called the 'Balloon Mitral Valvuloplasy'.  She will be undergoing the procedure in the next few weeks".

  3. TIMOTHY SCHOOL SUPPORT DOWN: God hasn't answered this one fully yet, except that a family here felt moved to cover the lost support during July and August.

  4. VISAS GRANTED:  After being denied twice, the Dutch team coming to ICMC in August met personally with the Consulate to plead their case.  Miraculously, they granted visas for all of them!  They contributed much to the encouragement of the 4000 pastors from all over India.

  5. THIRD FLOOR GIRLS HOSTEL DEDICATED:  The Dutch team opened the third floor of the girls hostel, housed above the St. Grahams Tamil school.

  6. CORN, BANANAS, TAPIOCA, BEANS PLANTED:  In addition to the regular acres of rice and beans, ICMC planted 15 acres of corn, 1000 banana trees on 10 acres, and 5 acres of Tapioca.  The fields are green from the rain and the dam is filling up.  Thank the Lord for His pleasure to provide food from His land.

  7. TEACHER TRAINING COLLEGE EXPANDED:  Pastor Jay writes, "We have 150 students at St. Grace Lilian Teacher Training Institute and next year it will be raised to 200 students. The NCTE approved the St Basil College of Education also.  Pray for the Tamil Nadu state to now approve it".  Thank the Lord for the additional revenue from outside paying students...and more free "seats" for graduating ICMC students.

The Lord is my protector;  He is my strong fortress.  My God is my protection, and with Him I am safe.  He protects me like a shield;  He defends me and keeps me safe.  He is my Saviour.  He protects me and saves me from violence.  I call to the Lord and He  saves me from my enemies. Praise the Lord."  2 Samuel 22:2-3
